Michael Garaway is a mixed media artist living in Berkshire, UK, who finds continual inspiration in urban landscape and new technologies to inform and produce his atmospheric and semi abstract work.
He studied Fine Art at Manchester Polytechnic and University College Chester, and has been making and exhibiting his work since the 1980s, showing in public and commercial galleries. He has won awards from the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, and took part in one of the first national survey exhibitions of UK artists using computers.
Michael has also worked as a graphic artist, a computer and audio-visual technician, and as a lecturer and course leader in art, design and multimedia in colleges and universities. He continues to teach part-time in London.
Much of his recent work is based on locations in and around Reading, exploring geometrical composition with a sensitivity to surface, tone and colour.
