Hi, I'm Michael Garaway, an artist living and working near Reading in Berkshire, UK.
I'm interested in the structures and atmospheres of urban landscapes, and how these can be combined with the look of digital technologies and ordered geometry and pattern.
My work uses a range of drawing, painting, photographic and digital media techniques, with a sensitivity to surface, tone and colour. It appeals to people from various walks of life, looking for something distinctive and unique to enjoy in modern home or office settings.
I've previously worked in graphic artist and technician posts, and in lecturing and course leader roles for art, design and multimedia in colleges and universities, including the Ealing School of Art, Design and Media. I studied Fine Art at Manchester Polytechnic and University College Chester, and I've exhibited regularly in public and commercial venues in the UK.
In the past I've won awards from the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, and took part in one of the first national survey exhibitions of UK artists using computers.
My work has been shown in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2006, and the Discerning Eye at the Mall Galleries, London, in 2017, and many of my pieces have been purchased by private collectors.
I'm a member of the Reading Guild of Artists, and you can also follow me on Instagram: @mgarawayartist
